Kayla Peterson always wanted to work in hospitality because she loves to travel and help people. Nine years after joining the industry, she is still thrilled to still be doing what she loves.
“If I can’t help people, my brain doesn’t function,” she says. “Having that connection with guests all the time is my favorite part.”
Even though Kayla now works behind the scenes as a human resources manager, the guests–and their experiences–are still a major focus.
“The hospitality industry is a fun place to work because you literally get to live out your own vacation while going to work every day.”
Working her way up from busser to human resources manager was an achievement that Kayla hopes can inspire others.
“Whatever it is inside the hospitality industry that you want to do, you can do it,” she says. “I love being in hospitality because it has endless possibilities. There’s nothing that you can’t do.”
