Derek: Lobby Ambassador
Meet Derek
Derek studied chemistry in college but couldn’t see himself working with test tubes and beakers or sporting a lab coat the rest of his life. Instead, he wears a giant smile, a suit and tie and studies the people he meets who visit New Orleans’ historic Bourbon Street.
Big Dreams in the Big Easy
Derek started as a bellman and a valet. Now, he’s a lobby ambassador at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans, a newly created role to heighten the guest experience that’s one part valet, one part bellman and one part concierge. Just about anything a guest needs or wants, Derek makes it happen. Derek’s goal: to work his way up to a general manager role someday.
